Convedia
Corporation announced today that its market leading family
of Media Servers have been chosen by Alcatel as a key
media processing element for Alcatel’s media resource
product suite. Under the agreement, Alcatel will market
and resell Convedia technology as an integral component
of its media resource products to both carrier and enterprise
customers around the globe.
“We’re very impressed with the multi-service
flexibility, performance, and outstanding voice quality
of Convedia’s media server products,” said
Mark Peterson, Vice President of Business Development
for Alcatel's wireline communication activities in North
America. “Convedia’s Media Servers were a
natural fit to improve the underlying media processing
capabilities of our media resource product suite. And
with their use of open standards–based SIP control
interfaces, we’ve been able to quickly and easily
integrate their technology into our next-generation product
portfolio. We’re looking forward to utilizing Convedia’s
Media Servers in a number of our largest IP telephony
infrastructure opportunities.”
Alcatel’s media resource product suite provides
multimedia user interaction and media delivery including
customized announcements, multimedia streaming, multimedia
conference bridging, DTMF collection, synthesized speech
(text-to-speech), automated speech recognition, and call
routing with detection of operator transfer instructions.
The Alcatel products use a common architecture to provide
the same capabilities to both TDM and Next Generation
IP networks.
“Alcatel is a strong and increasingly important
supplier of complete next-generation IP telephony solutions
for wireline, wireless, and enterprise customers around
the globe,” said Peter Briscoe, President and CEO
of Convedia. “Convedia’s unwavering commitment
to developing the industry’s best IP media servers
makes us the perfect partner for leading telecom equipment
providers like Alcatel. We’re proud to be a part
of Alcatel’s media resource product suite program,
and we’re looking forward to working together with
Alcatel to deliver cost-effective converged IP telephony
solutions around the globe.”
Convedia’s award-winning family of carrier-class
IP media servers reduce capital and ongoing operational
costs by consolidating the functions of traditional announcement
and recording servers, interactive voice response units

and speech platforms onto a single shared media processing
platform. Convedia works closely with leading network
equipment providers, application developers, and system
integrators to deliver some of the industry’s most
innovative and cost-effective network and enhanced service
solutions for service provider and large enterprise customers.
