SAN JOSE, CA, Spring VON 2006 – March 14, 2006
Convedia
Corporation today announced that TELUS, a leading national telecommunications
company in Canada, has deployed Convedia media servers in its IP-One™
Innovation service. IP-One Innovation is Canada’s premiere carrier-grade
Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony Service for business. Convedia media
servers are a critical element of the solution, delivering IP media processing
for a complete range of IP telephony services, including IP Centrex and
VoIP teleconferencing.
With the continued growth and success of IP-One Innovation, TELUS required
an IP media processing solution that could economically support its existing
IP service volumes, with the flexibility to introduce new multimedia services
in the future. Convedia IP media servers were selected because they successfully
delivered the features, reliability and scalability to meet these requirements.
“TELUS IP-One Innovation service offers business customers a suite
of innovative, productivity-enhancing services with real bottom-line benefits,
while maintaining the reliability of traditional business telecommunication
services,” said Stephen Yung, director, IP Applications Development,
TELUS. “Supporting carrier-class VoIP services requires a cost-efficient,
scalable, and reliable IP media processing infrastructure that can be
shared and reused across a multi-vendor IP application server environment.
Convedia media servers deliver powerful IP media processing capabilities
inside our core network, allowing TELUS to efficiently grow our IP-One
Innovation service portfolio with the reliability expected by our business
customers.”
“TELUS is an established VoIP services provider
with demanding requirements for network scalability, reliability, and
economics,” noted Peter Briscoe, Convedia’s president and
CEO. “As the VoIP market matures with a growing range of productivity-enhancing
voice and video over IP telephony services, the requirement for a shared
IP media processing resource in the network becomes critical for delivering
both service reliability and economic value. We are pleased that TELUS
has deployed Convedia media servers in the IP-One network, and we look
forward to working with TELUS in the development and introduction of additional
productivity-enhancing VoIP services for Canadian business customers.”
