ipVerse expands Open Softswitch Alliance (OSA) to offer new revenue opportunities for service providers Leading feature server and media server vendors join OSA. PHOENIX, AZ VON (Voice on the Net) March 20, 2001 - ipVerse announced today that Convedia and NexTone have joined ipVerses Open Softswitch Alliance (OSA) partner program to increase the availability of new, enhanced services for their service provider customers. The open architecture of ipVerses softswitch platform, ipVerse ControlSwitch, gives service providers access to the innovation of leading vendors and developers. With open, standards-based interfaces to feature servers and media servers, service providers are able to offer lucrative services, such as Conferencing and Instant Messaging, quickly over their existing and new packet networks. These two companies will work with ipVerse to demonstrate interoperability and engage in cooperative marketing activities. ipVerse ControlSwitch acts as an operating system by providing standard interfaces such as MGCP, SIP, H.323 and JAIN call control, that enable feature servers and media servers to deliver advanced services to carriers. The combined products will be interoperable with various multi-vendor media hardware devices supported by ipVerse ControlSwitch including integrated access devices (IAD), remote access servers (RAS) and high-density media gateways (MG). Convedias VP of Product Management and Marketing, Grant Henderson, states: "Convedia's commitment to open interfaces such as MGCP and SIP allows ipVerse to quickly leverage the scalable and high performance conferencing, announcement, transcoding, IVR and speech service building blocks offered by our CMS-6000 Media Server. The combination of ipVerse's best of breed applications logic and Convedia's carrier-class media processing platform gives service providers unparalleled flexibility and time-to-market advantage when deploying new voice services on their packet based networks." NexTones VP of Business Development, Larry Beerman, states: "NexTones partnership with ipVerse gives service providers the building blocks needed to create and quickly deploy unique H.323 and SIP applications based on subscriber mobility and personalization. Our participation in the OSA partner program ensures that our customers will receive a fully interoperable system solution that will quickly generate new revenue opportunities." ipVerses VP of Business Development, R. Paul Singh, states: "Our company mission is to create new revenue opportunities for our service provider customers by enabling new services. We are glad that Convedia and NexTone, the leading media and feature server companies, have joined ipVerse OSA program. This is yet another proof point of how we are bringing new services to our customers with an open architecture and interoperable multi-vendor solutions." ipVerse launched the OSA in March 2000 to promote open, interoperable, next generation network solutions.
