Telica™ continues to build Total Solution Alliance Program with addition of ADTRAN and Convedia.

Interoperability Adds to the Program and Ensures Carriers Total End-to-End Solutions for TDM, IP and ATM.

MARLBORO, MA. September 11, 2001 - Telica, Inc., an innovative provider of softswitch-based voice and data infrastructure products for today’s evolving telecommunications network, announced that ADTRAN, Inc. and Convedia Corporation, have joined the Total Solution Alliance Program. The program provides carriers a framework for interoperability for total end-to-end solutions for TDM, IP, and ATM voice infrastructure. The addition of these two partners to Telica’s Total Solutions Alliance Program further strengthens the range of open, reliable and scalable carrier class voice solutions for the next-generation network available to service providers. ADTRAN and Convedia join more than twelve other members already participating in Telica’s Total Solution Alliance Program.

ADTRAN, Inc.’s market leading Total Access® System Integrated Access Devices (IADs) provide voice-only or converged voice and data integration and interoperate with Telica’s Plexus 9000 multi-service switching system. The Total Access IADs provide the increased voice port density required by today’s integrated communications providers. “The Total Access System provides access to the latest local loop and switching technologies while supporting legacy networks and supports a broad range of applications,” said Danny Windham, Vice President and General Manager of ADTRAN’s Enterprise Network Division. “Working with Telica, the system can provide end-to-end solutions in both TDM and ATM applications. The distributed architecture of both the Plexus 9000 and the Total Access System is unique in its versatility and lays the framework for future network migration.”

Convedia’s CMS-6000 Media Server is a softswitch compliant, carrier class media processor which can be deployed in a broad range of traditional and emerging enhanced network services such as multimedia conferencing, pre-paid card services, messaging and speech enabled services. “Convedia and Telica share a common commitment to delivering carrier class, open standards compliant products with industry leading performance, reliability, and scalability,” said Grant Henderson, Co-founder and Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Convedia. “Combining Telica’s Plexus 9000 switching system with Convedia’s CMS-6000 Media Server enables service providers to quickly and cost effectively deliver profitable, differentiated enhanced services over their next generation IP and ATM networks.”

ADTRAN and Convedia’s products complement Telica’s Plexus 9000 softswitch-based packet switching system and provide carriers an integrated packet network solution. Telica’s Plexus 9000 carrier-grade switching system features a fault-tolerant architecture designed to exceed the availability of current central office switches in a highly compact form. The capacity of the Plexus 9000 significantly exceeds that of its nearest competitor. A single shelf with over 80,000 ports fully protected for TDM and over 21,000 for VoIP and VoATM, makes the Plexus 9000 less complex to deploy and operate than other platforms that require several shelves and intricate architectural configuration to achieve this level of port density.
