Ottawa, Canada, August 19, 2003 - Ubiquity, a developer
of SIP-based communications software for service providers, and Convedia,
a leading supplier of next-generation, IP media servers, demonstrated
product interoperability at the SIPit SIP Interoperability Test Event
today (www.sipit.net)
and announced a commitment to jointly bring SIP-based solutions to the
global service provider marketplace.
The joint interoperability efforts include Ubiquitys
award-winning SIP Application Server (SIP A/S), which is both a carrier-class
deployment platform and a programmable, standards-based application creation
environment, and Convedias CMS-6000 and CMS-1000 next generation
media servers. The companies successfully completed interoperability testing
of SIP A/S with Convedias Media Servers. Additionally, Ubiquity
plans to make its award-winning Speak Conference Director application
available in conjunction with Convedias media server. Ubiquity is
one of the first companies using Convedias recently released IETF
drafts for SIP media server (MSML/MOML).
"Convedias carrier-class media servers combined
with Ubiquitys programmable, SIP-based application server offers
a flexible, open solution to both service providers and application developers,"
said Jeff Liebl, Vice President of Marketing for Ubiquity. "This partnership
allows for the delivery of multiple IP applications using common platforms
for both application creation and media processing."
"Together Ubiquity and Convedia are supporting rapid
application innovation using SIP," said Grant Henderson, Vice President
of Marketing for Convedia. "Service providers can quickly implement IP-based
services like conferencing, messaging and other applications without the
need to understand underlying complex APIs."
Ubiquity Software Corporation develops and markets SIP-based communications
software, including its award-winning SIP Application Server (SIP A/S)
and Speak Conference Director. The SIP A/S is both a carrier-class deployment
platform and a programmable, standards-based application creation environment
(ACE) that allows providers to develop and deploy next-generation converged
communications services. Speak Conference Director is a rich media conferencing
application built using the SIP A/S and sold to service providers worldwide.
Use of the SIP A/S is extended to service providers and Independent Software
Vendors (ISVs) through open, standards-based application programming interfaces
(APIs). Ubiquity has corporate offices in the US, UK and Canada. For more
