BOSTON, MA, USA – September 23, 2003 Spectel,
the leading provider of integrated conferencing solutions, and Convedia
Corporation, the leading provider of carrier-class media processing platforms,
today announced a strategic partnership in which Spectel’s market
leading voice and data conferencing applications will be available on
Convedia’s award winning media server platforms. Spectel and Convedia
are demonstrating interoperability, at the Fall 2003 VON Tradeshow and
Expo this week in Boston, MA, USA at Spectel booth number 422.
The companies have partnered to develop and market integrated
solutions, based on open standards, which support reserved, reservation-less,
attended and unattended conferencing services. The combination offers
service providers and development partners the ability to quickly capitalize
on new markets and revenue opportunities leveraging the inherent benefits
of IP while selecting the infrastructure that best suits each company’s
deployment needs.
“IP media servers hold the potential of being an
open, flexible, and scalable platform for service providers. However,
today’s industrial-strength conferencing applications run on specially
designed, dedicated hardware platforms. With this announcement, Spectel
and Convedia are breaking new ground by committing to offer Spectel’s
proven conferencing applications on Convedia’s open and scalable
IP media servers,” said Andy Nilssen, senior analyst and partner,
Wainhouse Research. “The resulting Spectel / Convedia solution should
help conferencing service providers develop new revenue opportunities,
lower operating costs, and increase their market differentiation.”
“Convedia is pleased to partner with Spectel
to offer a powerful next generation conferencing solution-set,”
said Peter Briscoe, president and CEO, Convedia. “This solution
will allow conferencing service providers globally to leverage the benefits
of converged packet based networks to support a growing need for IP-optimized
conferencing solutions.”
