Ubiquity and Convedia Unveil
IP-Based Service Delivery Platform for 3G Networks

Companies Demonstrate Caller Ringback Tone and Mobile Conferencing Solutions Built on IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Service Delivery Platform

VANCOUVER, Canada and REDWOOD CITY, CA – March 16, 2004

UbiquityUbiquity and Convedia, today announced the completion of interoperability and certification testing of their respective products. The two companies will demonstrate innovative Caller Ringback Tone and Mobile Conferencing solutions powered by their jointly developed platform at CTIA Wireless 2004 next week in Atlanta, GA. The joint solution is the industry's first 3GPP IMS-compliant solution to fully embrace the true power of SIP, marrying best-in-class application server and media processing technologies.

"Standards-based IMS, offered by VoIP industry leaders like Ubiquity and Convedia, offer wireless operators maximized service deployment flexibility with a solid ROI," said Jon Arnold of Frost and Sullivan. "The open and flexible nature of the platform promises to allow service providers with 2.5G and 3G networks to develop and deliver a broad range of exciting multimedia mobility services in unprecedented time, while lowering the cost of delivering these new services."

The platform is based on Ubiquity's award-winning SIP Application Server and Convedia's industry-leading IP Media Servers. Ubiquity's software provides both a carrier-class deployment platform and an open, programmable application creation environment, while Convedia's IP media servers deliver an optimized Multimedia Resource Function (MRF) to support scalable audio and video IP media processing.

Ubiquity's rich Application Building Blocks and support for JAIN-standard SIP servlets allow third party application developers to quickly and easily create a broad range of wireless solutions including caller ringback tones, push-to-talk, multimedia conferencing, unified messaging, find me, follow-me and speech-controlled services. "This platform powers the creation and deployment of innovative services like conferencing and caller ringback tones, enabling 2.5G and 3G mobile operators to offer the latest multimedia enhanced
services to their subscribers," said Jeff Liebl, Vice President of Marketing for Ubiquity.

Additional benefits for mobile network operators include dramatic CAPEX and OPEX cost savings, multi-service support, improved reliability and industry-leading scalability. "Interest in VoIP technology is largely driven by cost savings, while interest in enhanced services has always been driven by high-margin revenues," said Grant Henderson, Convedia's EVP of Marketing and Strategy. "Our integrated solution accelerates the deployment of multimedia enhanced services, with the operational benefits of IP technology, resulting in a strong ROI for our customers."
