IPeria and Convedia Launch Fully Integrated
Unified Communications Solution For Service Providers

Companies partner to deliver enhanced features, scale and cost flexibility

BURLINGTON, Mass. and VANCOUVER, Canada, March 30, 2004

IPeriaIPeria® Inc., a global leader of network communications software, and Convedia® Corporation, the leading provider of carrier-class media processing platforms, have announced the successful completion of interoperability testing between the IPeria ActivEdge™ communications platform and Convedia’s IP media servers.

The certified interoperability of the IPeria and Convedia combination facilitates rapid, scalable and cost-effective deployment of unified communications applications such as voicemail and auto-attendant with wireline, wireless and broadband service providers worldwide.

The ActivEdge solution delivers network communication applications to service providers that generate new revenues, drive immediate traffic and help attract and retain subscribers. The IPeria ActivEdge network communications software is a modular solution on which a wide variety of advanced messaging services can be hosted. In addition to voicemail and auto-attendant, applications include visual voicemail, unified messaging, fax, personal address book and conferencing.

Convedia’s media servers are purpose-built to support carrier-class media processing for enhanced services and applications. The IPeria application server, using an industry standard SIP interface, can now seamlessly control Convedia’s media processing features — including media transcoding and audio play/record. The resulting integrated solution offers residential and enterprise market segments a feature-rich unified communications suite with the media processing reliability and scalability essential for large service deployments.

“Convedia is committed to working with leading application providers such as IPeria to ensure that our service provider customers have the industries more comprehensive suite of enhanced service solutions for their next generation voice and multimedia networks,” said Grant Henderson, EVP of marketing and strategy, Convedia. “The combination of IPeria unified communications and Convedia Media Servers provides small and large hosted PBX and IP Centrex deployments with a fully integrated and robust network communications solution.”

“Unified communications is a critical component to service provider offerings today and can differentiate one service from the competition, secure the subscriber base and create new revenue steams,” said Rob Scott, president and CEO, IPeria. “Our expertise is the network communication software, so it is important that IPeria work closely and interoperate seamlessly with media server experts like Convedia.”
