SUPERCOMM 2004 Announces Convedia as SUPERQUEST Award Winner

Convedia Receives Runner-up Award for
Excellence in Application Layer Systems Category

CHICAGO, IL – Supercomm 2004 – June 23, 2004

Convedia, the leading provider of IP media processing platforms, has been honored by SUPERCOMM with a 7th Annual SUPERQuest runner-up Award. Convedia’s Media Servers were recognized in the Application Layer Systems category for their strategic importance in the rollout of VoIP networks and their ability to help service providers drive cost out of their enhanced service platform while enabling new, highly differentiated network based services. Convedia was the only media server company honored by SUPERCOMM with a SUPERQuest Award. Last year Convedia was honored by SUPERCOMM 2003 as the winner of the SUPERQuest Most Promising Network Technologies award.

For seven years, the SUPERQuest Awards have been the pre-eminent honor given to communications and IT product and service manufacturers for superior achievement in public and private network design and operations. SUPERQuest Award recipients have been selected as the best of the best in creating the most innovative new technologies and products or supplying the best new enterprise solutions. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges which include industry leading technology press, analysts and other experts.

According to Jack Chalden, general manager of SUPERCOMM, “The strength and resiliency of this industry is reflected in the SUPERQuest Award Winners and Runners-Up. These forward-thinking, innovative companies give promise to the continuing growth and development of this industry and show us exactly where we should be headed in the future.”

Convedia’s award winning family of carrier class IP Media Servers reduce capital and ongoing operational costs by consolidating the functions of traditional announcement and recording servers, interactive voice response units (IVR/VRU), audio/video conference bridges, voice mail servers, and speech platforms onto a single shared media processing platform. Convedia’s media servers are controlled by application servers and softswitches through open control protocols such as SIP, VoiceXML, MGCP, MSML, PacketCable NCS, and Megaco/H.248.

"This year’s SUPERQuest runner-up award, following our SUPERQuest award win last year, is a tremendous honor and source of great pride for the entire Convedia team, and is a testament to the ongoing leadership delivered by our company and products," said Peter Briscoe, President and CEO of Convedia. "We are pleased that the judges have once again recognized the value that Convedia’s multi-service media processing platforms bring to wireline and wireless service providers, and we thank the judges, TIA and USTA for the award."

Convedia’s CMS-6000 and CMS-1000 Media Servers, along with a demonstration of Convedia’s video processing capabilities, will be shown in Convedia Booth #10203 during SUPERCOMM 2004 at McCormick Place in Chicago, June 20 – 24.
