VANCOUVER,
BC – September 28, 2004
Convedia® Corporation, the leading provider
of IP media processing platforms, announced today that it will participate
in the upcoming Global
MSF Interoperability 2004 (GMI 2004), sponsored by the Multiservice
Switching Forum (MSF). Planned for October 4-16, GMI 2004 will conduct
interoperability testing simultaneously between four interconnected carrier
labs located around the world: Qwest
in North America, British
Telecom (BT) in Europe, and Korea
Telecom (KT) and Nippon
Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) in Asia. Convedia’s CMS-6000 Media
Server, already installed at a BT lab facility in the United Kingdom,
will be an integral component of the live interoperability testing, by
delivering the media processing requirements for multiple VoIP applications
provided by other GMI 2004 participants.
GMI 2004 is the MSF’s global interoperability testing and verification
event for an end-to-end deployable and operations-ready VoIP network with
services, applications, network management, enhanced Quality of Service
(QoS), and security features. All the test sites will be interconnected
by live network facilities, creating a realistic test environment to examine
the interoperability and deployment of multi-service next-generation networks
on a global scale. GMI 2004 will test application servers, media servers,
service brokers, call agents, bandwidth managers, and other control and
management systems against the specific protocols defined in MSF Interoperability
Agreement (IA) specifications.
“The companies that have committed to participating in GMI 2004
are the Who’s Who of the telecommunications industry,” said
Roger Ward, MSF President. “The physical scenarios we have created
for the event will stretch the technical capabilities of the participants
by providing a demanding, realistic test setting. Participating companies
will have a chance to showcase their products to the world’s biggest
carriers in a real-world environment.”
Convedia has been an active member of the MSF since 2001, and has participated
in MSF technical committee meetings. Convedia also authored the MSF
Implementation Agreement (IA) for a SIP Media Server Interface, one
of the IAs to be verified at GMI 2004. During GMI 2004, Convedia’s
CMS-6000 Media Server will provide IP media processing capabilities for
a variety of VoIP applications, including the Korea
Telecom Application Server, the Leapstone
CCE serviceBROKER, the Telcordia
Open Services Platform, and the VocalData
Application Server.
“From its very beginning, Convedia has been totally committed to
the development and promotion of carrier-class VoIP service architectures
ready for global service provider deployment,” said Garland Sharratt,
Convedia’s VP of Partner Development and Chief Architect. “The
MSF's GMI 2004 event provides an unparalleled opportunity to demonstrate
and also verify the progress among leading telecommunication service providers
and vendors towards interoperable, scalable, and manageable VoIP services.
Convedia is pleased to contribute our products and technical support to
this landmark interoperability event, and to showcase the multi-service
capabilities of our IP media server platforms.”
Convedia’s carrier-class CMS-6000 Media Server and entry-level CMS-1000
Media Server consolidate the functions of traditional messaging platforms,
multimedia conference bridges, announcement and recording servers, interactive
voice response units (IVR/VRU), and speech platforms into a multi-service,
open standards compliant solution for network and enhanced services media
processing.
The Multiservice Switching Forum (MSF) is a global association of service
providers and system suppliers committed to developing and promoting open-architecture,
multiservice switching systems. Founded in 1998, the MSF is an open-membership
organization comprised of the world’s leading telecommunications
companies. The MSF’s activities include developing implementation
agreements, promoting worldwide compatibility and interoperability, and
encouraging input to appropriate national and international standards
bodies. For more information about the MSF and it members, visit www.msforum.org.
