BOSTON, MA –
October 20, 2004
VocalData,
a Tekelec company (NASDAQ: TKLC) and market leader in hosted IP telephony
solutions, today announced the availability of its new session initiation
protocol (SIP)-based conferencing server, enabling operators of all sizes
and large enterprises to scale in processing power and port capacity to
meet their current and future conferencing resource requirements at a
competitive price per port.
VocalData has entered into a distribution agreement to resell Convedia’s
media servers as an integral part of the SIP-based conferencing solution.
The new solution, which has already been deployed by several operators,
is comprised of Convedia’s CMS-1000 and CMS-6000 media servers combined
with Version 5.0 of VocalData’s application server.
“Our new SIP-based conferencing server provides a cost-effective
and scalable platform for deploying the audio conferencing-on-demand and
meet-me conferencing solutions our customers demand,” said Michael
Camp, general manager at VocalData. “Our partnership with Convedia
provides more powerful features to our application server and further
reinforces our strong commitment to SIP for the integration of technology
partner products.”
Convedia’s media servers reduce capital and operational costs by
consolidating the functions of traditional announcement and recording
servers, interactive voice response units, audio/video conference bridges,
voice mail servers and speech platforms into a single shared media processing
platform. The entry-level CMS-1000 Media Server delivers up to 300 concurrent
media processing ports for smaller service providers, large enterprise
and network edge deployments. The carrier-class CMS-6000 Media Server
is capable of scaling up to 18,000 media processing ports for large, next
generation network deployments.
“Our strategic relationship with VocalData enables service providers
to deliver high-value, cost-effective and easy-to-use telephony services
to business and residential customers,” said Grant Henderson, Convedia’s
co-founder and executive vice president of marketing and strategy. “VocalData’s
hosted IP telephony solutions are an excellent complement to Convedia’s
media servers and help increase demand for our family of award-winning
products.”
