CONFERENCING SOLUTIONS

Conferencing services are experiencing rapid growth. While data, video, and mixed-media conferencing continue to grow in popularity, audio conferencing continues to be an important revenue stream for many service providers.

In traditional conferencing solutions, expensive TDM-based conference bridge equipment is required to bridge and mix voice traffic streams. For incumbent carriers, backhauling any toll traffic to centralized bridge equipment with TDM circuits is inefficient and expensive. Managing and staffing call centers with customer care personnel booking conference reservations is another common expense with legacy conferencing solutions.

Convedia media servers offer advanced IP-based conferencing capabilities that can significantly improve the economics of audio conferencing services. Convedia offers a price per port significantly less then TDM-based conference bridge equivalents. Backhauling voice traffic over an IP backbone also offers significant network cost reductions. And since the service is delivered over an IP network, the integration with web-based management capabilities is fundamentally easier. Convedia’s conferencing partners can offer browser-based capabilities for customer self-reservation, reservationless, or prepaid conferencing solutions.

Convedia’s conferencing features and capabilities includes:

  • Up to 1,200 participants per conference mix
  • Up to 6,000 3-way conferences in a single CMS-6000 shelf
  • N-way audio bridging/mixing
  • Loudest N and preferred speaker
  • Independent gain control on all ports
  • Automatic Gain Control (AGC)
  • Automatic transcoding between codec types
  • Current speaker notification and whisper
  • Custom mix for each participant
  • Special mixing features for network gaming and voice chat applications

Convedia Media Servers are also designed to support video conferencing, along with video announcements, switching/mixing and recording.

When coupled with our partner’s softswitches, media gateways, and conferencing servers, service providers can seamlessly migrate existing TDM-based conferencing services to a next generation VoIP services platform, offering improved conferencing revenues through new features and service differentiation, while achieving the cost savings associated with next generation VoIP technology.
